Walking with Jesus
Several years ago some friends and I would take a week off work and ride different parts of the north Island doing around 800km in the week, there was never a real destination, yes each day we would start somewhere and finish somewhere else but it was far more about the journey, the fellowship and at the end of it all about the story.
We still laugh at some of the things that happened, there was never a winner or loser it was just about enjoying each other in a common passion we all had.
Yet with each section of the road we all had to push those peddles up every hill you had to grit your teeth and dig in, each day you got fitter and fitter stronger and stronger.
Listen to what Jesus said to His followers.
Luke 21:34
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.
What enabled us to ride over 100km every day? A passion that started long before that week, a consistency of life style that included riding the bike riding the bike and again riding the bike.
But we’re not talking about riding bikes we are talking about walking with Jesus.
He tells a story of 10 virgins, 10 people seen as pure and holy, yes that’s us the church, filled with His presence, with a passion to seek and call on Him every day as the old hymn declares
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
It’s about your journey, ask yourself today.
Do I talk with Him, do I walk with Him because it’s all about the journey, we don’t know when He will return, but really what does that matter because He’s already here.
