Enlightenment

This word sounds deeply spiritual, but at it’s core it simply means the replacement of God by humanity, it is characterized by the dramatic revolutions in science, philosophy, society and politics in the eighth century; these revolutions swept away the historic Christian world-view and ushered in our modern western world.

We now live in a totally confused world where we believe if it feels good then it is right, morality and virtue are words that are only useful until temptation has us put them aside for feelings and emotions.

Feelings and emotions that are operating outside the parameters of Godly morality are a declaration that self is now god and we are now functioning in a state of enlightenment even though we would never as Christian confess to that, yet in essence that is exactly what we are doing.

But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”                                                                                                                           1 Peter 1:15-16
