How do we see ourselves, or more importantly how does God see us?
Jesus says that we are the light of the world

Matthew 5:14-15
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

In other words we are the reflection of God on earth, for God is light and in Him there is no darkness, and that’s the crux of the matter, and in us there is no darkness…

Philippians gives us a clearer understanding.

Philippians 2:15
that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

Now here is the journey and the contrast, that we may become which speaks of the journey and we become lights in the midst of darkness, or as said here a crooked and perverse generation.

We then must have a clear understanding of what is Godliness or faultlessness in comparison to what does a perverse and dark generation look like.

Because without a knowledge of right and wrong we will find ourselves at times hiding our lives under a basket of compromise as we reflect things that are not as Godly as we might think they are.

Psa 119:104-105
Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

We must hold to His word to understand what is light and what is darkness.
